Rise in Tamil Nadu Politics and Lok Sabha Stints
C.P. Radhakrishnan's political journey in Tamil Nadu began with his rise through the BJP ranks, becoming state Secretary in 1996. He served as a two-term Member of Parliament from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999, which were notable victories for the BJP in the state. As an MP, he held roles including chairing the Standing Committee on Textiles and was part of a special committee investigating a stock exchange scam. From 2004 to 2007, he was the Tamil Nadu BJP state president.

Radhakrishnan has held administrative positions, including serving as Chairman of the Coir Board of India from 2016 to 2020. He was appointed Governor of Jharkhand in February 2023. In July 2024, he became Governor of Maharashtra, also briefly holding additional charge for Telangana and Puducherry.
